Description

This apparatus is designed to demonstrate the force experienced by a current-bearing conductor in a magnetic field, and the direction of this force, with relation to field and current directions. The observations of the directions of motion, and knowledge of the directions of current and field, can be used to confirm Fleming's rule.
Two face-magnetized magnets are held in position on opposite inside surfaces of a steel plate bent into a horseshoe shape. These magnets provide a strong vertical magnetic field. Two brass horizontal rails, give a conducting path to the light brass rod axle resting horizontally on them. Apparatus is mounted inside of a wooden frame measuring 7.75" long, 2.3" wide and 2.5" tall. Fitted with two, 4mm socket terminals.
Required, but not included: Adjustable, low voltage unit (6-9V DC, up to 5 amps), Conducting leads & Plotting Compass
