The xTool P3 is a flagship 80W CO2 laser cutter and engraver that slices through thick wood and acrylic while precisely engraving glass, leather, and metal. With a massive 36” × 18” workspace and intelligent LiDAR autofocus, it delivers industrial-grade subtractive manufacturing to the classroom. Often paired with an xtool 3d printer to create hybrid projects, this advanced xtool printer is the ultimate fabrication tool. Institutions can source the P3 directly from Congeriem, a comprehensive hardware and educational software supplier.
1. Subtractive Manufacturing: The Power of the 80W CO2 Laser
When outfitting a modern 2026 makerspace, you need tools that can handle real-world materials. While additive manufacturing builds objects layer by layer, the xTool P3 does the opposite. It uses a high-powered 80-watt CO2 laser to cut, score, and engrave by removing material.
But what does it actually do on a daily basis?
- Deep Cutting: The P3 can slice through 20mm solid basswood or 25mm thick acrylic in a single pass. This means students can build structural chassis for robotics, puzzle pieces, or architectural models in minutes.
- Precision Engraving: Using its optional 5W Infrared (IR) module, the machine can engrave incredibly detailed logos, barcodes, or student names onto coated metals, ceramics, and even delicate glass.
- Rotary Capabilities: With the RA3 rotary attachment, the laser is no longer limited to flat boards. It can easily engrave on curved surfaces like tumblers, water bottles, and baseball bats.
2. The AI-Driven "Place & Go" Workflow
The biggest barrier to entry for laser cutting has historically been the manual calibration. If a student didn't focus the laser correctly, the wood would catch fire, or the cut wouldn't go all the way through.
The xTool P3 eliminates this friction with its new ACS™ (Automated Creation System).
- LiDAR Autofocus: The machine uses advanced LiDAR lasers to measure the exact thickness of your material and automatically adjusts the focal height.
- AutoLift Base: Need to engrave a large, bulky object like a wooden chest? The motorized base automatically lowers to accommodate objects up to 8.6 inches thick.
- 4-Camera Vision: Dual 16MP cameras give the user a live, panoramic view of the entire 36” × 18” print bed on their computer screen. You can literally drag and drop your digital design over a live video feed of your material to ensure perfect placement before you ever press the start button.
3. The Ultimate Hybrid Lab: Laser vs. 3D Printing
Many educators ask us if they should buy a laser cutter or a 3D printer. In 2026, the answer is both.
While students might use an xtool 3d printer (or similar FDM machines) to print complex plastic gears and intricate mechanical joints, 3D printing is notoriously slow. By adding an xtool printer like the P3 to the lab, students can quickly laser-cut the large structural plates and outer housings from wood or acrylic in seconds. Combining these two technologies allows students to prototype exactly like professional engineers do today.

4. The Software Connection
A machine this powerful needs intuitive software to run it. The xTool Studio software is incredibly user-friendly, supporting common file formats like SVG, DXF, and JPG.
However, teaching students how to create those files is where the real education happens. This is why buying from a vendor that is also an established educational software supplier is so critical. At Congeriem, we don't just ship the heavy hardware. We can bundle your purchase with industry-standard design software licenses (like Adobe Illustrator) and dedicated STEM curriculum to ensure your teachers know exactly how to integrate the machine into their daily lesson plans.
5. Why Source the xTool P3 from Congeriem?
Purchasing a flagship laser cutter is a major district investment. In a classroom full of students, safety cannot be compromised. The xTool P3 features Class 1 laser safety, a built-in CO2 active fire suppression system, and heavy-duty enclosures, making it the safest choice for schools.
When you purchase through Congeriem, you get the institutional backing you need. We process official school purchase orders, provide seamless tax-exempt invoicing, and offer the technical onboarding required to get your new lab running safely and efficiently.
